Food Service Debt Policy

USDA Policy Memorandum SP 46-2016 requires all School
Food Authorities (SFAs) operating federal school meal programs to have a written and
clearly communicated policy. Below is our current policy.

From the first day of school through Memorial Day, all students and district staff
members will be limited to charging up to thirty dollars ($30), for unpaid lunches at
time of purchase. Once the delinquent balance of a student reaches thirty dollars ($30)
an alternative meal will be served for middle and high school students. From Memorial
Day through the end of the school year adults and students will not be allowed to carry
a negative balance.

An alternative meal consists of a cheese or peanut butter sandwich, fruit, and milk.
When a student’s balance falls below zero parents will be notified via email or letter, so
they can send cash or deposit money through Send Money to School.

If you are in need of financial assistance through the free and reduced lunch program,
please go to lunchapp.com and fill out the appropriate forms or you may obtain paper forms
in the front office. If you need assistance with this or have questions about the policy please
contact the food service department at 256-3808.
