STUDENT SUPPORT

We provide a variety of supports to help every student achieve academic success.
Differentiated Classroom Instruction
Teachers use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the unique learning needs, interests, and readiness levels of all students.
Tier 2 and 3 Reading & Math Intervention
Students who benefit from additional targeted support may receive:
- Push-In support within the classroom
- Pull-Out small group intervention
- Evidence-based instruction in foundational reading and mathematics skills
- Individualized instruction based on specific student needs
Enrichment Opportunities
Students are challenged through engaging enrichment experiences that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Fluency Tutoring
Additional reading fluency support helps students build confidence, accuracy, and comprehension.
One-on-One Tutoring
Students may receive individualized academic support through partnerships with community volunteers or Leland High School student mentors.

Helping students feel safe, connected, and supported is an important part of learning. At LPS, we provide students with the following social-emotional supports.
The Solving Space and Behavior Interventionist
Students have access to a dedicated space where they can:
- Take breaks and develop self-regulation strategies
- Practice problem-solving skills
- Reflect and reset
- Receive individual support when needed
School Counseling Services
Our counselors help students develop:
- Positive relationships
- Emotional awareness
- Conflict resolution skills
- Healthy coping strategies
School Social Worker
Our social worker partners with students, families, and staff to provide resources and support that promote student success.
Onsite Therapy Services
Students and families have access to therapeutic services that support emotional well-being and mental health.
Our Commitment
Every child can succeed when provided with the right support, encouragement, and opportunities to grow. Our academic and social-emotional supports work together to help students become confident learners, caring classmates, and resilient individuals.
Our School Improvement Team includes members from our administration, interventionists, and counselors. This team meets weekly to assess student needs, and ensure all students are fully supported both academically and behaviorally.
Community Support Partners

LCN
LCN provides support to families in need in Leelanau County. Their programs include the Baby & Food Pantry, Blessings in a Backpack, Financial & Housing Assistance, and Samaritans' Closet.

Community Meal
LCUMC offers free meals every Tuesday from 4-6pm.

5Loaves 2Fish offers free meals to people experiencing food insecurity.
