Dear LPS families,

This week I’m sending big congratulations to our students on a fantastic start to our "Away for the Day" phone policy! They have navigated this transition with impressive self-discipline and respect. It is SO great to see and hear our hallways filled with students genuinely connecting with one another.

Thank you, parents, for supporting this shift by routing student messages through the main office. To protect instructional time, we deliver notes between classes, with our final delivery of the day at 2:35 PM. You can help avoid end-of-day worries by ensuring any afternoon messages reach us before then. 

It’s Homecoming Weekend! After a week full of Spirit Week competitions and school pride, our high schoolers are ready to celebrate. We invite all staff, students, and alumni to join us Saturday at 12:00 PM as Varsity Boys Soccer takes on Marquette for our Homecoming Game. The JV Boys play beforehand at 10. After the games, our 9th–12th grade students will keep the momentum going at the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night!

Thank you to everyone who made the PTO's Summer Bake Sale and Lemonade Stand a success! The money raised, in addition to matching funds from area farms and businesses, will provide all elementary students with $5 vouchers to shop the School Farmer's Market on September 29th.

The Leland PTO is seeking sponsors for the 2026 Fall Parent Social. If you would like to be involved in this year’s event by joining the planning committee, or with a sponsorship please email ptoleland@gmail.com.

Popcorn Fridays are back! Thank you to the LPS Support Staff for sponsoring the first Popcorn Friday of the school year. 

Volunteers are needed to help package and distribute popcorn to students, and sponsors are also needed for future Fridays! Head to PTBoard for the details, or email ptoleland@gmail.com.

Sign up now for elementary and middle school robotics! 

Upper Elementary FIRST LEGO League Challenge will meet Tuesdays after school in the robotics lab from 3:20pm until 4:20pm with student pickup from 4:20pm-4:30pm beginning September 22nd. This is for students in grades 4-5. 

Middle School FIRST Tech Challenge will meet after school Thursdays from 3:30pm-4:30pm in the robotics lab beginning September 24th. This is for students grades 6-8.

Interested in K-3 robotics? We are looking for adult volunteers to help kick off our FIRST LEGO League Explore teams in October. 

For all high schoolers interested in joining the FIRST Robotics Challenge Team 9568 AstroBots, contact the coach at mparsons@lelandschool.com. 

All participants in all of our robotics programs must register through Final Forms prior to attendance. 

Applications are being accepted for students interested in studying abroad for the 2027-28 school year with Rotary Youth Exchange. Studying abroad is an excellent way to learn a new language, discover another culture, and truly become a global citizen. Each year Rotary sponsors students, aged 15-18, from our local area to live, study, and build peace around the world! An information session is planned for Sophomores and Juniors, Friday, September 11th during Advisory.

Join us October 4th for the Leland Comets Golf Scramble, the biggest LCLF fundraiser of the year.  Register a team to play or support a sponsor here. Proceeds aid all Leland Comets athletic teams.  

Local farm-fresh goodies, vibrant colors, and a little Comet Cauliflower magic. Even the salad bar has school spirit this week!
