Parent Teacher Organization

Mission

The Parent Teacher Organization at Leland Public School is a volunteer organization that is dedicated to supporting teachers, engaging parents, and enhancing our school community in pursuit of a world class K-12 education for our children.

Values

We wish to support Leland’s teachers by promoting and coordinating both acts of kindness and active volunteerism in and around the school.

We strive to strengthen and advance a sense of school community by encouraging parent, guardian, and family participation and collaboration.

We seek to encourage effective communication between the school and student families.

We aim to honor and endorse the menu of channels that are available to Leland families for delivering ideas and addressing issues.

We aspire to pursue only modest fundraising efforts and encourage our members to work with the main fundraising vehicles for Leland Public School, which include the Leland Educational Foundation, the Leland Comets Legacy Fund, the Verdier Circle of Friends, and others.

We are committed to an inclusive, diverse, equitable, and apolitical organization.

Whether you just want to get the monthly email summary, have questions about the work of a specific committee, or wish to actively pitch in, there is room at the table for all. 

What am I committing to if I become a member?

By completing the membership form, you commit to receiving a monthly email.

 If you wish to go beyond this, there is an opportunity to select any membership committees or volunteer areas you are interested in learning more about.There are no mandatory dues nor pressure to volunteer, just a shared commitment to our kids.

The meetings of Leland’s Parent Teacher Organization are scheduled to take place on the first Tuesday of the month, unless noted by asterisk.

• Tuesday, December 2nd at 6pm, Annual budget meeting

• Tuesday, January 6th at 6pm 

• Tuesday, February 3rd at 6pm

• Tuesday, April 7th at 6pm 

• Tuesday, May 5th at 6pm, Annual elections meeting
