"JC Oosse and Jack Anderson have been doing 4H. Both recently acquired their market project for 4H, which is a pen of production pullets that they will both raise separately and then show and sell at the Northwestern Michigan fair in August. They also just recently (with their club members) participated in an afternoon fun day where they learned the art of whittling and candle-making. Jack and JC are both members of the Frontier Quest 4-H Club!" - Mrs. Oosse

A huge thank you to students, staff, parents, and THE PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION (insert exciting DJ noise here) for donating time, energy, and joy to make LPS the glowing place that it is this holiday season. The LPS community is exceptional because of hearts and minds like yours.

LPS Holiday Thank You
PTO WISHES ALL MEMBERS A HAPPY HOLIDAY BREAK As 2023 draws to a close, PTO officers Emily Miezio, Ana Garcia, Dan Worth, and Stacey Brugeman want to make sure members know how grateful they are for you. This month, countless volunteer parents and teachers from a pool of more than 115 members stepped forward to: decorate a school spirit tree at the Old Art Building; bake nearly 1,000-holiday treats for the “Baking Spirits Bright” initiative for school staff (pictured); volunteer in classrooms; donate games requested by teachers; or attend PTO meetings, Board meetings, or Coffee & Tea meetings. YOU make Leland a great place to be, and 2024 holds as much promise as ever. Follow along on Instagram @lelandpto, and have an excellent holiday break. Photo credit: Amanda Johnson

"A fun activity we did in AP Lit where students were given a list of tone words and had to categorize them into tone families, i.e. anger, happiness, etc. It was a lot of fun listening to them debate what words should go into each family." - Mrs. Walter

Elementary and Middle School students and staff visited the 5th grade Wax Museum this morning! Each 5th grader chose an explorer to research. At the wax museum, they presented themselves as their chosen explorer and shared their explorer's stories. These research and presentation skills will help prepare students for the 5th Grade Exhibition that will take place in the spring.
